TIM'S SW ALPHABET CHALLENGE 2018
We started the challenge in January planning to accomplish it through several fun days spread over a few months. Luckily one of our gang likes to play with his sat nav and lead us astray and a plan was hatched to tick off a few more on a chilly February Friday.
We met at CW's in the middle of a white out - where did that snow flurry come from? Apparently it just appeared as I was eyeing up the sweets and choccy in the fuel station.....never take your eyes off the task in hand! By the time we'd had coffee and banter with the lads in the shop things had improved and we set off for RAF Tarrant Rushton Airfield. The roads were a tad slippery, plenty of mud, pretty thatched cottages, narrow lanes, thousands of snowdrops along with daffs and crocus - spring was teasing us. Down Zig-Zag Hill for the brunch stop at Mirus 55 in Gillingham - a bike shop with a difference and a great cafe.
More lanes to KingAlfredsTower - a National Trust Folly on the Stourhead Estate. The scenery was stunning with far reaching views so we went on to SherborneCastle
Back to CW's to round off the day and then all starbursting home to clean the bikes - 9 hours and about 250 miles later.
The Challenge is great fun - it takes you to new interesting locations and provides more excuses to just enjoy our lovely countryside in great company. Just do it!!!
